Stampin' Up! Winter Olympics

I'm looking forward to another week of Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, how 'bout you?

• I tried a little something different than my usual with this card and started with Glossy White Card Stock, stamped Baroque Motifs in clear VersaMark ink and heat embossed that in Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder with my Heat Tool.
• Then I sponged Classic Inks in circular motions:  Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue, and Night of Navy in that order, leaving the center mostly untouched.
• The final touch was to use Heat and Stick Powder to adhere Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter on Bashful Blue Card Stock with a stamp from the Circle Circus stamp set, using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig for perfect interlocking Olympic rings placement.  A few cuts with my Paper Snips, some SNAIL adhesive to mount that piece to a Night of Navy Card Stock layer and then to the Whisper White card base, and the card was done!

Vancouver Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony Prairie

The prairie scenes from the Vancouver Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony struck me as very beautiful...even though I live in the mountains, we are also right next to the prairie of the nation's midsection.

This card is supposed to give the feel of that beautiful section of the opening ceremony in the prairie.  The swirling prairie grass and boy flying over the plains was stunning!

• First I sponged a Tempting Turquoise card base with Brilliant Blue Classic Ink for added dimension by shading..
• I tried to capture the rich coloring of the prairie grass by first stamping over Crushed Curry card stock with clear VersaMark ink, then heat embossing the image with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder.
• Next, I sponged Dusty Durango Classic Ink over the cardstock and cleaned off the embossing with a dry paper towel.  Then I treated the card stock with my Embossing Buddy.
• I repeated the stamping and heat embossing in clear ink and powder, then sponged in Chocolate Chip to give a multi-colored look.
• Then I punched six 1-1/4" squares from that piece and layered them on 1-3/8" punched squares of Brilliant Blue card stock.
• The shattered square was created by cutting a triangular piece off one square and adhering teeny hearts punched from the remainder using the new Pinking Hearts Border Punch with my 2-Way Glue Pen.

Vancouver Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony Forest

Did you watch the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony?  WOW!  I was inspired to create several cards based on the artistry my eyes feasted on!

Opening Ceremony Forest

• First I stamped and embossed the trunk rectangles with the Woodgrain background stamp in VersaMark ink and Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder.
• Then, I used a torn edge of card stock (similar to the tree canopy in my card) to lay over my trunk, canopy, and forest floor pieces, then sponged in circular motions with various Classic inks against that edge, moving it frequently at different angles to create the shadowy effect you see above.
• Using my Paper Snips I cut the trunks into 3 at the bottom, just like the opening ceremony!
• For my forest floor flowers I spritzed my Trio Flower Punch shapes with my Color Spritzer Tool and some Stampin' Write Markers, then glued pink beads from the Pink Bead Duo with Crystal Effects.
• The tree canopy has a nice 3D effect due to the layering of the torn pieces with Stampin' Dimensionals.

You like?  I for one, was in total awe during the entire ceremony!

Snow Buddies Thanks Note

My little guy likes to stamp, so I had him help me with his Christmas thank-you cards.  

I hadn't used the now-retired Snow Buddies Level 2 hostess set, so we stamped with that set in Basic Black, Dusty Durango, and Bermuda Bay.  The ribbon is also from the Holiday Mini Catalog that expired on January 4th, but I had just enough left to make a set of 10 thank-you cards in this 4" x 4" size.

Stamp Your Envelopes, Too!

This is the last project from the Front Row Regional Make & Take packet that several of us made a while back.  The 3" x 3" notecards can't be mailed as is due to their size, so it's perfectly wonderful to decorate the envelopes any way you please, since you'll want to hand deliver them!

As Stampin' Up! demonstrators we were allowed to order these packets of pre-cut projects to get together with team members, making our own little regional Stampin' Up! convention!   We had a lot fun making this big batch of projects, all shown below:
