Kissing with Sweet Scoops

At my Stampin' Up! Hostess Clubs this month we learned all about kissing!

Stampin Up Hostess Clubs in Sturgis, Rapid City, and Black Hills South Dakota Sweet Scoops Kissing Technique

Kissing with stamps, that is!

Sweet Scoops Kissing Technique

The Kissing Technique is a fun way to get even more designs out of your stamps by enhancing or altering one image with another.  We used the Sweet Scoops stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog for this bright card.

  1. Ink up your solid stamp with one color (I used Pretty in Pink on the solid ice cream scoop stamp).  Lay it down on your Grid Paper, face up.
  2. Ink up your second stamp with a contrasting color (in my case the texture stamp in Melon Mambo).
  3. Stamp the second stamp on to the first stamp that is on the table, being careful not to slide it around, just stamp straight down.  TIP:  Laying the one on the table and leaving it there instead of trying to hold the two reduces the chance of slippage/smearing.
  4. Now stamp that double-inked image onto your card stock for the completed image!  Pretty cool, huh? It's a bit of a shortcut to masking in a way...I like shortcuts!  Just be sure to clean your double-inked stamp in between each time so you don't get the darker ink on your lighter ink pad.
I'll have the other card later, plus a 2stampis2b YouTube video on the Kissing Technique as soon as I get it edited.

KWernerDesign Reader's Choice #2 Color Challenge

Fun colors for Kristina Werner's color challenge today!

Stampin Up Kristina Werner Color Challenge Card Ideas Elements of Style Watercoloring Itty Bitty Bits Buttons Square Lattice Big Shot Dies

Elements of Style Watercolor

Elements of Style is such a beautiful stamp set!  I can't stop using it!

  • This time I used Watercolor Paper from Stampin' Up! and my Aqua Painter in Kristina's colors to create this Old World looking card (think stucco and climbing roses).
  • I also finally used a trio of Bitty Buttons, the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set, and the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack that I ordered from the Summer Mini Catalog...fun combo!
  • Do you like the touches of White uni-ball Signo Gel Pen around the card?  I did some faux stitching around the Kraft card base, then some graduated dots on the bright Summer Sun greeting box.
  • My "stucco" is White StazOn ink brushed over the Square Lattice-embossed (this folder is ONLY available from Stampin' Up!) Ballet Blue card stock, and the edges are either distressed with my Cutter Kit (LOVE IT) or torn by hand.
  • Some Crystal Effects over the wild roses and dogwood-ish flowers and leaves give the rustic elements a touch of polish and freshness.
Do you like?  Does it get you in the mood for a European vacation?  Click if you'd like to see some of my  other challenge projects, which I'm having a blast creating!

On a side note, today is a certain goal deadline with Stampin' Up! that I would LOVE to meet (Stampin' Up! is SO good to us!).  If you have been envious of all the wonderful benefits that I get as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, please consider joining before the end of the day and make us BOTH happy!  I would absolutely LOVE to have you join my group!

My Favorite Summer Mini Stamp Set

...is Elements of Style!

Elements of Style Stamp Set

This gorgeous stamp set that is in the new Summer Mini Catalog from Stampin' Up! reminds me of the wild yellow roses that adorned the Sturgis, SD neighborhood I grew up in, and those that grow on my grandparent's place in Piedmont.  Up here in the mountains of the Black Hills where we live, there are several pink rose varieties that grow wild.

The hummingbird is precious (I'm a birder so I LOVE hummingbirds!), the greetings are versatile, and the flourish makes a wonderful background stamp or can be colored with markers for a multi-colored image!

In fact, if I could only order ONE stamp set in the Summer Mini, this one would be IT!  Click to see the projects I've made with the Summer Mini Catalog products so far, and if you'd like to see the projects I've made using the Elements of Style stamp set, you can type "elements of style" in the Search My Blog box on the sidebar.

Here's my favorite so far that I've made with this stamp set:

Stampin' Up! Elements of Style in Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss by Michelle Tech 2stampis2b

You can order this gorgeous stamp set from me RIGHT NOW by clicking over to my Stampin' Up! shop and typing in or copying and pasting these numbers:  #118611 for the wood-mount set or #120045 for the clear-mount set, your choice.  The Spanish sets are #119910 (W) and #120105 (C), and the French versions are #119900 (W) and #120099 (C).

MOJO139 Sentimental Island Oasis Journey

It's finally feeling like spring and nearly summer here in the Black Hills, even though we just had 8" of snow last week!  Over the weekend I got my deck flower pots filled and our creek running through our mountain property is full!  The forest smells so good in spring after a long winter!

Stampin' Up! Mojo Monday MOJO139 PPA42 Island Oasis Sentimental Journey Top Note Challenge Card Ideas

The warm weather makes me think of a Sentimental Journey to an Island Oasis!  In a Word...sunny!

MOJO139 & PPA42 Challenge Card

That's right...today I combined the sketch from Mojo Monday and the color challenge from Pals Paper Arts to create this one dreamy card!  I love the bright challenge colors that match the Island Oasis Designer Series Paper from the Summer Mini Catalog.

To create that "Love Boat" feel around the Sentimental Journey cruise ship stamp, I created 3 graduated sizes of post-it note masks around the shape (for the smallest one I traced around my clear-mount stamp), then sponged the Classic Inks starting from the outside in!

Check out my other challenge cards!

Are you like me and LOVE the Top Note Die that is exclusive to Stampin' Up!?  If you buy the Big Shot Die-Cut Machine from me you'll get free gifts worth $147!  Click to see the details and what you'll get for FREE!

Mojo Monday 137 Island Oasis Sentimental Journey

This is one of my favorite Mojo Monday sketch challenge cards so far!  (do I say that every time?)

Stampin Up MOJO137 Mojo Monday Island Oasis Sentimental Journey challenge card ideas Square Lattice Big Shot Folder

Probably because it makes me think of warmer weather (yep, it was snowing again this weekend!), and because I used several new Summer Mini Catalog goodies:  Island Oasis Designer Series Paper, the Sentimental Journey stamp set, and the Stampin' Up! Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder!

MOJO137 Island Oasis Challenge Card

Here's how I made my card this morning:

  • Layer a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Island Oasis Designer Series Paper leaf print onto a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" Chocolate Chip Card Stock layer.
  • Run a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Kraft Card Stock through your Big Shot Die-Cut Machine (you DO know about my fantabulous Big Shot Offer, don't you?) and your new Stampin' Up! Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Looks like a grass mat, doesn't it?  Cut a 2-3/4" x 3" rectangle from it and punch a Scallop Oval shape from the remainder.  Sponge both pieces' edges and top surface light with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.
  • Layer the rectangle on a 2-7/8" x 3-1/8" piece of Chocolate Chip Card Stock and adhere to the leaf print layer.
  • Punch four 1-1/4" Squares from the Island Oasis DSP tropical flower print, sponge the edges in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, then layer onto a 1-3/8" x 5-1/8" strip of Chocolate Chip Card Stock.  Tie a length of Natural Hemp Twine around the top and knot on the front.  Layer over the rest with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Stamp the "Journey" greeting from the new Sentimental Journey stamp set in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink over Certainly Celery Card Stock, punch out with the Large Oval Punch, then ink edges with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.  Layer onto the Scallop Oval piece and adhere to the card front layers with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Before attaching the card front layers to the So Saffron card base, attach three 5/16" Chocolate Chip Jumbo Brads to the lower right using your Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack.
  • Be sure to stamp the back with your Stampin' Up! personalized stamp and sign your name, then you're done!

You can get ALL of these cool supplies from me at my Stampin' Up! Shop, and they ship directly to your door!  Just look below for the item numbers for copying and pasting in my shop's search box to make it even quicker and easier!  I REALLY appreciate you supporting my stamping business and all the hard work I put into it to bring you new projects each day!  Have a great week!

Be sure to enter to win my blog candy giveaway from Saturday here!  It's as easy as posting a comment, and I DO love to hear from you!

Extreme Elements of Style & a Giveaway

The new Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Catalog went LIVE for ordering today!!!  If you've ordered from me before, you should have gotten yours in your snail mail very recently.  Now, stick around...I'm giving away a random prize as blog candy!  All you have to do is answer 2 easy questions in the comments.

Stampin Up Extreme Elements of Style Beautiful Butterflies Big Shot Summer Mini Catalog Card Cracked Glass Favorite Thoughts Blog Candy Giveaway Prize Welcome Neighbor Paper

I love how the butterfly turned out on my card.  I copied the design (it's called CASE-ing) from the new Summer Mini Catalog that went live today, but used my own colors.  I LOVE that Stampin' Up! has samples on every page of their catalogs!!!

Here's how YOU can make your own:

  1. Cut a folded piece of Confetti Cream Card Stock with the Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and your Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, unfold the large butterfly.
  2. Ink up the wild rose stamp from Elements of Style (I got this free by attending the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference at Phoenix in January...it ROCKS being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator...will you be my Stampin' Up! girlfriend?!) with the Always Artichoke and Perfect Plum Stampin' Write Markers, spray the inked rubber with a fine water mist from a distance of about 12" away, then stamp on large butterfly you cut out.  You can stamp off once on a piece of scratch paper if you'd like the image to be more subtle.  Spraying with a mist of water gives the image an easy watercolor look.
  3. In Basic Black Classic Ink, stamp the "Don't treat me any differently than you would a queen!" greeting from the new Favorite Thoughts Summer Mini Catalog stamp set over the top of the flower image.
  4. To make the cracked glass coating on the butterfly, you're going to turn your VersaMark pad upside down and press the clear ink all over the butterfly (have Grid Paper underneath...I can't LIVE without Grid Paper!), then heat emboss some Glassy Glaze Enamel Stampin' Emboss Powder over it...then while that is still hot (be VERY quick about this!), cover it with MORE Glassy Glaze Enamel powder and heat again.  Repeat until the card stock is all covered, maybe 3, 4, or even 5 times.  If your fingers get too hot do one wing at a time.  Put the butterfly in the freezer for a few minutes, then take it out and crack the enamel to make it look antique!  Pretty cool, huh?
  5. To finish off the card I stamped the flourish in VersaMark ink on the 3-1/2" x 4" Almost Amethyst Card Stock, then stamped the crown from Extreme Elements in Basic Black Classic I ink.  With SNAIL Adhesive I layered this on top of 3-5/8" x 4-1/8" Mellow Moss and then 3-3/4" x 4-1/4" Confetti Cream Card Stock pieces.
  6. Attach a lilac Square Ice Rhinestone Brad to the crown and through all layers using your Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack, then staple two 1-1/2" long pieces of Mellow Moss Taffeta Ribbon to the bottom and trim at an angle.
  7. Using Stampin' Dimensionals, adhere your butterfly to this, then adhere the whole assembly to the Kraft Card Stock base!
  8. Always stamp the back of your cards with your Stampin' Up! personalized stamp (pages 136-7 in your 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog) and sign it by that stamp!

Extreme Elements of Style Summer Mini

Now for the prize giveaway:

To win my last Welcome Neighbor Designer Series Paper Pad, all you have to do is answer the following questions in the comments section of this blog post (not on my facebook page, although I love comments there too!):

  1. What page in the Summer Mini Catalog is the card I CASEd on?
  2. What is YOUR favorite project sample in the Summer Mini?
It's THAT easy to win!  You don't have to order to win {it DOES keep me motivated to create projects for you every day here at my blog :-)}, but if you're wanting to order from the Summer Mini, you can do so NOW online and get your goodies on their way to YOUR doorstep to begin making your own cool projects with the new stuff.

Make sure you keep coming back to find out if you've won!  The best way is to subscribe to my blog via e-mail or reader from my sidebar widget.  I'll announce the winner sometime next week and will give the potential winner 24 hours to respond or will draw using random.org again.

GOOD LUCK!

Mojo Monday 134 Fifth Avenue Fleurettes

I'm having a blast being challenged each Monday by the Mojo Monday Challenge sketch!  Today I reached for one of the colors that will be retiring in the upcoming Color Renovation that Stampin' Up! announced last week, Summer Sun.

Stampin Up Card Ideas Mojo Monday 134 Challenge 2stampis2b Michelle Tech Fifth Avenue Floral Summer Sun Night and Day Specialty

And since April's Stampin' Up! special is Two-Step Stampin', I grabbed the greeting from Fifth Avenue Floral.  It's one of four Two-Step Stampin' sets that are discounted 20% off this month, plus if you hostess a workshop of $350 or more with me or e-mail or call in that order, you can get the new annual Idea Book & Catalog sneak peek set Awash with Flowers for FREE!

I also recorded a video again of me tinkering to complete this card...I'll try to have it edited and loaded for tomorrow's post, but today is ONE BUSY DAY:  besides all the usual Monday stuff (probably my busiest day of the week anyway!), I want to finish an Owl Treat Bag order Kimberly in Florida so she can have them in plenty of time for her daughter's first birthday (did you know that you can hire me to make finished product for you?), and I've got rehearsal after lunch for my webinar presentation on My Digital Studio greeting cards that will be live for demonstrators only this Thursday with Stampin' Up!  I'm really excited for this opportunity!  If you're a demonstrator I hope you'll register and be able to attend, as I've got a few tricks to show you!

Have a great week everyone!  I hope I've given you a little inspiration to get YOUR mojo going!  Click to see even more from my other challenge cards I've done!

Click if you'd like to see the new Color Renovation color chart, and there's one bidding a Fond Farewell to the retiring colors.  I also have a clickable button on my sidebar for you!

Mojo Monday 131 Paradise

It's been in the 60s, and beautiful sunny weather like that feels like paradise after a long winter!

Stampin' Up! card ideas Paradise Mojo Monday 130 Challenge MOJO130 by 2stampis2b

Mojo Monday 131 Paradise

This week's Mojo Monday Challenge sketch was for a long card, so I planned mine to fit into our Stampin' Up! Small Open-End Envelopes #107286 that are 6-3/4" x 3-1/2".

  • I cut my card base to 6-1/2" x 6-1/2" then scored and folded it in half.
  • Next I stamped one of the leaves from the Paradise stamp set in VersaMark ink onto the So Saffron card base for a tone-on-tone background.
  • The Chocolate Chip 5/8" Satin Ribbon is a nice compliment to the colors in this card, with a bow tied off the side.
  • The center panel of Chocolate Chip Card Stock is 4-1/2" wide by 2-1/2" tall, then each rectangle of Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack (available in a stack of 48 sheets of double-sided 12" x 12" paper in the Occasions Mini Catalog until April 30th) is 1-3/8" x 2-3/8".
  • The Paradise leaves were stamped on Old Olive Card Stock in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder and cut out with my favorite Paper Snips from Stampin' Up!.
  • The finishing touch was a quick and easy greeting from the Chocolate Chip Chit Chat Rub-Ons package that has a second sheet of Whisper White greetings...both sheets total about 186 rub-ons!!!!!  A worthy purchase for the number of projects you can use them for!

Thanks for visiting paradise today!  Click to see my other challenge projects I've completed.
