On the Second Day of Christmas

On the second day of Christmas my true friend gave to me

Two Countdown Calendars

and a Handmade Holiday Planner!

I made my two countdown calendars with Ski Slope DSP, Little Felt Flurries, and the Top Note Bigz Die, plus some Rub-Ons, Satin Ribbon, and my own homemade stickles (I still need to come up with a good name for that!). This project was inspired by Amy Sheffer, who does beautiful work!

The numbers (retired) were stamped and embossed on the backing sheet that comes with DSP and punched out with the Small Tag Punch. I also heat embossed the sentiment from Heart from the Heart to make it really stand out on the DSP.

I used a Sponge Dauber to ink the 4" coaster edges, then rounded the corners of the DSP that I glued onto all 4 sides of the 2 coasters using Anywhere Glue Stick. The DSP-covered chipboard coasters, number tags, and Top Note cutouts from DSP and Brushed Silver CS were all bound together using my Bind-It-All machine and 1/2" o-wire.

To help the countdown calendar stand up, I cut a 2-1/2x1/2 inch piece of the sturdy Brushed Silver CS, scored at 1/2 on each side, and adhered one tab to the back coaster with Sticky Strip, leaving the 1/2 inch under the ribbon on the front piece free of Sticky Strip so that the other tab could be tucked in or removed for flat storage.

See my previous post on how to make my faux Stickles, which I dotted on the clear acetate Scallop Circle Punch layered on top of the Little Felt Flurry. To make the ring that I wrote on with my White uni-ball Signo Gel Pen, I punched a 1" Circle onto the Chocolate Chip CS, then punched a ring out with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch. The ring is adhered to the acetate Scallop Circle with Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive, a Rub-On was applied to the center of the acetate, and the whole acetate assembly was attached to the Little Felt Flurry with Crystal Effects underneath the ring and in the center behind the Rub-On.

Here's what you'll need to make your own Countdown Calendar. You can print this post out and mark what you don't have. If you need to order anything, you can do that on my Stampin' Up! website at http://2stampis2b.stampinup.net/ anytime by clicking the "Shop Now" button.
