Three Christmas Ornaments
Two Countdown Calendars
and a Handmade Holiday Planner.
Here are 3 fun ornaments to make:
The scallop ornament was made with Ski Slope DSP, and Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, and Real Red CS, some Silver Elastic Cord, a Vintage Brad (to wrap the cord around at the bottom), the Scallop Circle and Boho Blossoms punches, Tombow glue, and my faux stickles (dotted in the 4 small Boho Blossoms punches on the bottom). This one is pretty straight forward...score your scallops in half, fold, and adhere together using Tombow with the cord wrapped around the vintage brad at the bottom and running up the center of all the folds.
The ribbon candy ornament was a little trickier. I used Silver Elastic cord again, secured at the bottom with a Square Fire Rhinestone Brad poked through a large Filigree Designer Brad, and a small Filigree Designer Brad with another Square Fire Rhinestone Brad at the top under the big bow. At the bottom I tied a separate Silver Elastic Cord bow through the top loops of the Filigree Designer Brad and around the hanging cord to keep it from flopping down flat and looking downwards.
The ribbon candy part is Ski Slope DSP cut 1" x 12" with a 1/16" Circle punched about every 2 inches down the center of the strip. In between each bend I made a "bead" out of 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon (I think I used 3" of ribbon for each bead) that I ran SNAIL Adhesive along the one side before rolling up around the Silver Elastic Cord. I recommend securing the last end of each bead with some Tombow glue to keep it from unrolling. Keep threading paper and then rolling up a bead (or use a real bead!) until you're at the end of the 12" strip. Attached the small Filigree Designer Brad and Square Fire Rhinestone brad and top it off with a bow made from 5/8" Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon to match!
The glass ornament came from Hobby Lobby. It's flat on 2 sides, which made it easy to stamp the snowflake from the Season of Friendship stamp set in White StazOn ink. I let that dry while I stamped the Merry & Bright tree, deer, and snowman on Whisper White CS in Basic Black Classic Ink. I heat set this since I proceeded to use my Blender Pens to color in the images with Classic Inks. I cut them out using my Paper Snips, temporarily taped down a loop of Silver Elastic Cord that would allow the stamped images to fit inside the glass ornament. If you look closely (click on any photos to see larger versions), you can see that I drew a rough pencil line around my draft placement in case I fumbled and messed up my spacing that I had worked out by holding the clear ornament over the cutout grouping. Attach the stamped cutouts with Crystal Effects to the Silver Elastic Cord (waxed paper underneath makes it easy to pick it up later without it being glued to your Grid Paper). After that is dry, carefully bend each cutout and feed them into the top of the glass ornament, then replace the topper and add more Silver Elastic Cord for hanging. You could also add some Chunky Essentials Stampin' Glitter to the ornament to look like snow inside.
