Mom's For You

My Mom is a stamper, too (and my best customer!). She gave me a stack of cards to photograph and use on my blog while we're running their Sturgis Rally campground. Enjoy them!

Tagger's Dozen Baby

I just got the Tagger's Dozen stamp set a few weeks ago (which is retiring!), and the small tag punch. I haven't had time to use them all yet, but I thought I'd spend some time making a few simple cards with those and some Designer Series Paper. I also tinkered with adding some Scor-Pal details to the white space on each card. After the rally I hope to continue making 2 of each of these to have a nice set of cards for lots of different types of occasions.

This one I sent to Becca...congratulations on your new baby!

Chromed Rally Squash Books

Here we go again with squash books! These I made to sell at the Rally. I used chrome-colored pigment ink to add some circle detail from the Enjoy Every Moment stamp set on the background of this one, and

zippers (think leather jacket) from the ABC Images stamp set on this one.

These are compact enough to fit in a saddle bag for that ride home and can hold quite a few photos from your trip! Buy one at the campground or contact me and I can make you one after the Rally. To see my folks' campground, visit our website at http://www.hogheavencampground.com/.

Decor Elements Project Vase

Demonstrators were given a Decor Elements sample in our August issue of Stampin' Success! (Contact me to find out how you can get this benefit among many others by becoming a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.)

Before I even got my sample, and knowing it was coming and it's size (thanks Patty!), I had this idea in mind. I wanted to apply the Decor Element to a vase that I could add pretty rocks and chokecherry whips to (straight off our own property!), and then decorate some miniature clothespins for displaying cards! I will take this to workshops so we can all see the Make & Takes better that we are working on.

I used some Die-Cut blooms to decorate the clothespins, and tied a 5/8" Old Olive ribbon around the top of the sturdy jar (lid removed) that I got at Hobby Lobby in anticipation of the Decor Elements sample arrival. It's thick glass and should travel just fine to all the workshops we'll be having this fall and winter!

Thanks for looking! I got the idea, by the way, from Charmaine at Oodabug Alley with her Picture Pot. Love her work!

More Mustard Window Dressing

Uck! I got myself in trouble from the start when I grabbed the new In Color blues and More Mustard cardstocks. I fought my way through it, found a really nice shimmery Hobby Lobby ribbon and promptly quit! I'm posting it, but I'm not liking it, except for that ribbon and bow I fussed over.

I was trying to do something clever by stamping in Black StazOn ink on acetate for the window portion of the stamp. I colored the shutters and trim on the acetate with Copics, as well as the cat and bird. I think I'd be happier if I had done the window differently. Whatever, it is what it is, and it is done!

Mountain Wildflowers & Cool Acquisition

I took a break from transcribing right before lunch to take my little guy out and help me pick some wildflowers from our property, as our meadow is just bursting with color! The most prolific (well, the most noticeable anyway) is the wild bergamot (aka beebalm, horsemint):
We also have some large patches of purple coneflower:

And many, many other wildflowers, some of which are in this bouquet we picked, including harebells, common yarrow, threenerve fleabane and daisy fleabane, blackeyed susan, and lavender hyssop:

This fall when we finish our landscape structure I'll start transplanting some of these from other areas of our 10 acres. I'd never pick flowers in the National Forest except on our place, and sparingly at that. There are certain flowers that I will not pick on our place that are rare or ephemeral, like Gunnison's Mariposa lily, wood lily, and shooting stars.

While we were out, we got to eat wild raspberries that are just starting to come in. In another 2 weeks we'll have a bumper crop all over the Hills. I totally forgot to check the wild strawberry slope, but we should have a really good crop of those right now with all the rain we've had this year. They're super tiny and the wildlife will probably clean them up before I think to check again. Just a small taste is all we take.

One more picture before you go (thanks for staying so long!). I went haywire at Target's dollar spot yesterday, but look! Medium and small metal tubs (future stamp camp? gifts? not sure yet!) and tiny lunchboxes printed and filled with small samples of some old-school candies! They're not much bigger than a deck of cards!

Thanks for stopping by again today!

Water Bottle Life Vest

I've been seeing these around so I had to make one, except that I'm calling it a life vest since that is what struck me just now (and because I can't remember what everyone else is calling it!) Most of them I've seen are made with Crystal Light singles, but all I have in this household with a 5-year-old is KoolAid. He doesn't drink the stuff, but for some reason we had some, so there you go!

This was a fun and quick project, and will likely be a door prize at an upcoming workshop. I used the Wow flowers stamp set, Kiwi Kiss ink, Bella Rose DSP, and the new In Colors cardstock, all soon to be released on August 11!

Sturgis Rally Squash Book

For 2 weeks every year, we all help my folks run their Rally campground in Sturgis. Since I'm on a roll with squash books, I made this one to match the prevailing colors for the event!

You may or may not be surprised to learn that I had my own Harley for a few years. After we had our boy, 2 wheels seemed like an unnecessary risk, so we sold our Harleys and stuck to our 4-wheeled ATVs. It makes more sense anyway, since we can ride right out of our place in the beautiful Black Hills National Forest and hit the trails from here!

However many wheels you ride on, keep the rubber side down!

Birthday Mice

My upline Joyce had our Shoebox Swap group make this card last spring...isn't it cute? I had to make another so I could keep one, because I'm sending one early to an old friend...that's right, she'll be old like me this August! 40 (gasp!) We'll see if she catches on here.

Here's something: I am embarrassed to say that I think I've been goofing up since I started my blog in May...if you've posted a comment to my blog, it copies me to my email inbox. I've made a big point to reply to almost every comment via email. Except that I noticed the other day that even though your name gets populated in the To: box in my reply email, I see in the properties that it may actually be going to no-reply@blogger.com! Wow, I should have known better, but never thought to check since your name was there. So, I apologize profusely for seeming so RUDE! I clear my sent items and inbox regularly, so I hope I didn't miss something big. Sheesh and sorry if you didn't hear back from me when you thought you would...BAD blogger!

Thank You Candles

This card was also inspired by Stamper's Showcase on the Stampin' Up! demonstrator website from July 16th. I used the same stamps as yesterday, and the "thank you" sentiment is from Enjoy Every Moment.

Have a great Saturday!

Pick-a-Petal Candle Thanks

I just received my Pick-a-Petal stamp set the other day, along with an order of Nestabilities, so I just had to make this candle card. I saw the idea on Stamper's Showcase (July 16) on the Stampin' Up! demonstrator website. I made a card about like the SS one and will post it, too. This one I arranged like the sketch at LilyBean's Paperie.

The orange part of the flame is half of the leaf stamp from the Friendship Blooms set, Wish Big is from Short & Sweet, and the Bashful Blue reverse scallop border is a leftover piece from using my new Scallop Edge Punch! If you click on the photo, you might be able to see the orange Spica glitter pen I used on the small orange part of the flame.

16 Years of Marriage

Our 16th wedding anniversary is Friday and my Mom sent this card she made. Pretty cool, huh? She cuttlebugged and glittered the heart and mounted it to a Scallop Circle punch. The sheer ribbon is a nice touch, too.

Thanks Mom!

Heard from the Heart Christmas

I've managed to make 1 card from the new Heard from the Heart stamp set, and this is it...pretty simple.

The image is stamped in Kiwi Kiss ink on Whisper White cardstock, and embellished with a Riding Hood Red button from Button Bouquet and some red hemp twine, plus the bottom is edged in Riding Hood Red cardstock cut with the new Scallop Edge punch.

I hope to have more time today to play with all of my new stuff!

I'm in Heaven

I was so excited to get my Demonstrator's Fall/Winter Idea Book and Catalog preview order! Lots of stamps, the new In Color ink and paper set, the new Scallop Edge punch, Button Bouquet, and some other things tossed in. I've had fun playing with this new/soon-to-be released stuff since last Thursday, as you've seen. I should have a few more days this week to really get into it before my other work starts coming in.

If you'd like to get in on bonuses like ordering new items earlier than normal, contact me for more information on becoming a Demonstrator or first visit my Stampin' Page that can get you started here. If you're ready to sign up right now, use my recruiter password on that link: 2stampisb . It's easy to sign up online, and so much fun to decide which stamp sets, ink colors, and paper sets to get. I added the Stampin' Memories add-on too! You get over $85 worth of scrapbooking products for just $50! I have made so many pages from that one set I picked out, and I have plenty of supplies to make many more! The inside back cover of the Idea Book & Catalog is devoted to the Starter Kit and Stampin' Memories add-on if you want to see what comes in it.

Here are a few other bennies besides being able to order early:
  • 40% off the Starter Kit (that's over $300 of Stampin' Up! products for only $199) and free shipping to boot!
  • 20% off all the time. All you need to do to stay active and receive your discount is place orders (from yourself or customers) that total $300 per quarter. If all you want is the kit, then no problem...there is no obligation to sell anything or buy more.
  • 30% off your first order in the first 6 weeks. Whoa! This was a good time for me to stock up.

I started out thinking this would be a good way to get all the basic supplies in the Starter Kit. Perfectly okay to stop there! I realized quickly that I was having so much fun, I'd give it a shot and put on some workshops here and there to support my own Stampin' Up! habit. So far so good! In fact, so well that I've already earned 5 free stamp sets of my choice under the Stampin' Start new demonstrator reward program.

Best of all, I'm having a blast meeting new people, spending creative time with family and friends, and sharing my favorite hobby with everyone.

I hope you join me!

Workshop Scrapbook Page

Courtney & Kasey, what a great workshop! It was a lot of fun!

For those of you that couldn't make it, here's the scrapbook page I demonstrated (along with 2 Make & Take cards). The page started out as a 6x6 base of Summer Picnic DSP from the previous DSP Swatch Club I offered. A little ribbon, a little glitter, some stamping and a staple, along with the photo, and you have a 6x6 page!

Now, if you add a 12x12 sheet of cardstock, some Versamark stamping, embossing powder, more ribbon, and a white Signo gel pen, you get a 12 x 12 page! I like both formats!

If you're wanting a big stack of 6x6 Prints Designer Series Paper to make up to 96 pages in the 6x6 format or maybe use it for 3 or 4 times that many cards by cutting it up, I have only TWO spaces left in the Prints DSP Swatch club. As soon as I get those last spots filled, I'll order the paper and get it made into kits and sent out or delivered. Go here for details or go straight to the sidebar to grab that last Prints DSP spot!
If you were at the workshop last night, don't forget to sign up for the blog candy I'm giving away in the next few days! If you weren't at the workshop, you can sign up too! Go here to do that!
Enjoy your day!

Without Further Ado...

Meet Miss Sock Monkey!

She was stamped in Black StazOn ink and paper pieced with Very Vanilla, Kraft, and Riding Hood Red cardstock, and her tutu was dyed with a pink Copic marker and hand gathered and sewn on with clear machine quilting thread. The flower she is holding was colored with blender pens and Kiwi Kiss, Pirouette Pink, Riding Hood Red, and YoYo Yellow inks. She sits on a Tiny Bubbles cuttlebugged Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red oval Nestability cutout set, layered over a polkadot piece of Bella Rose DSP and Close to Cocoa cardstock stitched with pink machine embroidery thread. The card base is Very Vanilla. The layers of cardstock and DSP are sponged on the edges in Close to Cocoa ink. Miss Sock Monkey's eyelashes were added with a Basic Black Stampin' Write marker. A few clear Dew Drops round out the card.

She was very fun to coax to life!

Thanks for all of your comments! Don't forget to enter to win my blog candy!

Deer Friends Preview

I've been playing with my new Level 2 Hostess preview set "Deer Friends" that will be coming out in the new Idea Book and Catalog on August 11th. The set has 8 adorable stamps in it that I thought would make a perfect set of pocket cards. You can click on the photo for a larger view.

I used mostly ink and paper from the new In Colors coming out, plus the new Bella Rose DSP and a button from Button Bouquet, all coming out August 11th. Ah, and the gift, baby Jesus, and snowman cards paper on the left side was stamped in the matching In Color ink with the Wow Flowers stamp from its set of 4.

Up the side of each pull-out pocket card I stamped a line with the soon-to-be-retired All in a Row using my Stamp-a-ma-Jig for perfect placement. Each stamped image has Dazzling Diamonds glitter applied with a 2-way Glue Pen and is mounted on a 1-3/8" Circle Punch piece. The baby Jesus pocket card's All in a Row stamped image got glittered using Heat and Stick powder for more precise glittering of the image.

I used ribbons and twines I already had since the In Color ribbons aren't out yet, but the gingerbread man card got a "ric-rac" treatment using the new Scallop Edge Punch on Whisper White paper.

For the angel card I dyed some 1/4" White grosgrain ribbon with an SU! sponge piece and the new Riding Hood Red stamp pad. There! Matching ribbon before it's even out!

It's hard to see in the photo, but each card's stitching is done in a matching thread color. I have an embroidery attachment for my Bernina, thus a lot of thread colors to choose from!

I'll show individual photos of these cards in the near future so you can see more detail.

Until then,
Michelle

First Travel Journal

Last travel journal entry, I promise! This is just the front/back cover shot of an earlier travel journal I made for my little guy. It has similar pages in it as the Dude Ranch Album. Once again, the digital art is from www.pchubclub.com
BTW, I've decided to give the blog candy a few more days so that a few more people can get in on the loot. Head on over and enter, you've got a little bit longer, maybe until Monday or Tuesday!
I've been working on some new SU! stuff, so keep watching for those posts!

Dude Ranch Vacation Album Part II

Here's the second installment of the Dude Ranch album I made for my little guy last summer.

There are coloring and dot-to-dot pages:

More photo pages:

And this laminated pocket holds laminated cowboy paper doll clothes with velcro dots on them:

To be placed on the opposite velcro dots on the paper doll page! The facing pages were tear-out postcards that he wrote on and sent to the other grandma and grandpa while he was on vacation:

And, the back cover. I bound the book with jump rings and added a bead tassel to the top.

Thanks for looking! My SU! preview order is arriving this afternoon and I did some marathon transcribing yesterday so that I could have the rest of the day after a morning trip to gymnastics in town to play with my new stuff!

Don't forget to sign up for my blog candy, as I'll be using random.com tomorrow to pick a winner!

Dude Ranch Vacation Album

Last Labor Day weekend we all took a family trip to a mountaintop dude ranch on my husband's side to celebrate his folks' 50th Anniversary, so I made this digital album to take along for my then 4-year-old little guy to commemorate his trip and keep him busy when he got bored. Today I'll show you 5 photos and I'll have the other 5 tomorrow to break it up.

First up, the laminated cover:

I had made another travel journal similar to this one and did the same thing on the first page: A log of what we did every day.

Here's the autograph page for everyone to sign, and a "Things I've Never Done Before" page:

I included a few coloring pages for the car ride:

A few photo pages: Here he is getting the autograph of the wrangler, and had the privilege of ringing the dinner bell:

More tomorrow! BTW, most of the graphics are from www.pchugclub.com.

Tea Light Candle Holder

I got the idea for a tea light votive holder from Stampin' with Kerin but I like hers a lot better...Kerin's is made with Fresh Cuts notes but I don't have any, so I used my Boho Blossoms punch and some Felt Fusion flowers, along with some rhinestone and regular brads. I inked the top edges and the flower cutouts, then tied some Striped Grograin ribbon around the bottom. The trick, as you can see in the detailed directions at Kerin's site, is a layer of vellum on the inside. I accidentally deleted my full light photo, so all you get is the glow light from the inside version.

Thanks for the inspiration, Kerin!

I Have Dawn's Autograph!

I am so lucky, I have a card that Dawn McVey made and wrote a note in TO ME! She's published, you know! I won blog candy from her and along with some pretty buttons, ribbon, and big brads, I got 2 issues of Cards Magazine. Dawn has 5 cards published between the two! I love her beautiful work, and you can see it on her blog, My Favorite Things.

Do it with an Exclamation Point!

I CASEd these cool cards from Angie Kennedy Juda, but added some glitter too! I made up 40 kits of these in 4 colors to take with me to our July 4th celebration at my aunt's so that all of us gals could make a card set to take home.

Don't forget to enter to win my blog candy! It's way bigger than my first giveaway!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
